As a member of the Triune Godhead – with equal glory, power, deity, majesty & worth as the Father & Son – what do we see upon the Holy Spirit’s agenda in the Bible? The Scripture’s definition of what He is to accomplish in seasons of revival is stunning. He glorifies Jesus, reveals the deep things of God, floods the human heart with divine love, convicts of sin, heals broken bodies, minds & hearts, He testifies of the judgment to come, witness’s to the devil’s being crushed at the cross, He causes men & women (young and old) to prophesy, & He gives dreams and visions…etc. These are but a few of His glorious works.

Notes on Revival: What is Revival?

Revival: it is when the Holy Spirit moves upon the hearts of men & women of all ages, to bring them into a new and increased experience of God, by applying the power of Jesus Christ’s saving work to them. In the next few posts, I’m going to look at the glorious issue and reality of revival. I want to take a historical look at what it has been, & from there, to take an introductory look at five key Biblical texts concerning the ministry & work of the Holy Spirit in the midst of His great work called “Revival”.

As history moves forward toward the greatest time frame of God’s visitation, which is clearly articulated in scripture (Joel 2:28-32…etc), we must gain an understanding of God’s heart, word, & intention in the midst of revival. The Scriptures speak of a coming revival which will see the greatest release of God’s power and glory in history just before the second coming of Jesus. It has much to say on this crucial & disruptive subject, & in order to rightly move forward into all that God has, we, the Body of Christ, MUST DELVE deeply and lovingly INTO the SCRIPTURE to see what God has laid out for our understanding and preparation for the days ahead.

The Inescapable Power of Beauty

“Beauty”: is found in something which looks good. It is found in looking at a sight or thing which takes hold and doesn’t let go till you look again; and again and again and again. It is that thing which pleases the eye and fills the soul with delight. It is a sum of parts in perfect composition and relation to each other that make a harmonious whole. In sum total, beauty is that which we deem as being worthy to look at because of it’s aesthetic perfection and the pleasure it brings as a result of our gazing upon it and the prospect of enjoying it.

The name “Paul” starts off 13 of the 27 books which make up the New Testament Scriptures.  This mans life displays the mercy & goodness of God perhaps like nothing else in existence, except the life of Jesus. It opens up to us the treasury of the divine goodness in God’s heart toward His enemies. It displays the widths, lengths, depths & heights of God’s love toward sinners like nothing else. God’s actions toward & work in the life of Paul are nothings short of stunning.

Reflections in Movember: The Need For Revival

700 New Zealand men per year die from prostate cancer, 3000 per year are diagnosed with it, and 1 in 10 New Zealand men are currently diagnosed with depression every year. These facts are what Movember is all about: To raise awareness and to make known & understood a few of the problems the men of this land are facing. I am all for raising awareness and donating to the cancer foundation…etc But we need more than that. We need an answer that can bring lasting, soul satisfying, life & relationship restoring, love releasing, body healing change. This can only happen through revival in which the glory of Jesus is magnified and experienced by many. Let me explain.

To the Men of New Zealand: Very Good News For You

You were created for glory, dominion, & majesty with the Creator (Genesis 1-2; Psalm 8:5), you gave it up in rebellion against Him (Genesis 3; Psalm 2:8), and at the price of His blood for yours, He gave it back, to be accessed through faith and love to Him (Romans 3:20-26; Ephesians 3:11-12; Hebrews 10:19).

The Pursuit of Pleasure & Joy: New Zealand’s Great Need

The pursuit of all of human life can be summed up in four words: The Pursuit of Joy. We’re driven by the longing to experience it and the need to possess it. In pain we seek it, and in pleasure we delight in it.

This is the glory of Christ & this was meant to be the glory of man – fullness of Joy & infinite gladness. The Bible describes God & His Son Jesus as the happiest Beings in existence. It declares that they possess & are the source of all humanities needs & desires. A. W. Tozer well said that because man is the handy work of God, all his problems are primarily theological in nature. Convince man of God’s existence, he said, and ten thousand lesser issues will fade. Restore man to God, he said, & he will find “joy inexpressible full of glory”.

Introducing the Surpassing Glory of Jesus Christ

Never has there been such a need for the clear proclamation of the supremacy and surpassing worth, glory and pleasure of knowing the Son of God, Jesus Christ, like there is today. In light of the current social culture among our young adult generation, there is clearly a devastating plight plaguing us. And it is called our own depravity. The innate wickedness of our hearts, and the gloriously God given hunger for endless pleasure, has mingled & caused the majority of New Zealand (and global) youth to be mindlessly entrenched in the pathetic offers of pop culture as if they can actually satisfy. A few of these offers which are being pursued week after week in an attempt to fill the ravenous void of the human soul, are as follows.

A Call to Pursue a Vision for Biblical Leadership at the end of the Age Pt 2: Christlikeness

The second part of this series is focused on the heart, character and nature of the qualities needed to do well in the days ahead. As mentioned last time, the goal in the mind of God for now & at the end of the age, is to have Christ centered, Christ exalting leaders who have clarity, authority and meekness worked out in their hearts, who can help lead the people of God to fullness in Christ in the midst of the darkest and greatest hour of human history yet to unfold.
